Library Online Training: Incites and Web of Science
28 Feb 2019 – UMP Library had organized a research support training on online database Incites and Web of Science by Clarivate Analytics recently. The objective of the training is to give exposure to research officer, faculty executive, deputy dean for research, academician, librarian and post graduate student to exercise hands on about Incites and Web of science. The trainer was Ms Dju-Lyn, the Solution consultant (ASEAN), Clarivate Analytics.
Incites can be considered a new database subscribed by UMP Library since last year. InCites is a customized, citation-based research analytics tool on the web that enables research administrator to evaluate institutional productivity and benchmark institution output. This tool can benefit the researcher office and faculty administrator in order to identify the faculty or related subject to faculty performance, benchmarking, measuring research impact, developing and nurturing successful collaboration and identify potential collaborators based on their industry and international collaboration. This database is important in assisting research officer and faculty administrator to generate strategic research data for stakeholder decision making.
Web of science is citation indexing and abstracting database. In general, this tool can help academician and researcher to find impactful collaboration and publication individually. The hands on also about identifying the journal metric via Journal Citation Report, one stop tool in searching full-text via Kopernio and identifying potential reviewer via Publons.
This one day training was divided into 2 session. The morning session was for Incites. This session was specifically for research officer, deputy dean for research, librarian and faculty executive. There was 14 participant among research officer, librarian and 78 views from Umplib live facebook. The dean for research department Professor Dr. Mustafizur Rahman was attended the training on Incites representing all faculty deputy dean for research. While, afternoon session was for Web of Science. The attended participant was among academician and post graduate student. Around 31 participants and 143 views from Umplib live facebook who joining the training session.
