Reference Unit

Reference unit focuses its role in providing reference and consultancy services on library collection, services and facilities to users. These services are free of charge but is subject to terms and conditions.


To offer an efficient reference service to users in supporting the teaching, learning and research activities in the university.


User Education Program
Information Literacy Class facilitate users to fully utilize resource collections, services and facilities provided by the library. Users will be exposed to the technique for searching information resources. This class is emphasized on Library portal, Iportal, the use of database (Ezproxy), UMP institutional Repository (UMP IR) and MyUniNet Portal. Users can request to attend the classes via memos and emails.

Library Briefing
Briefing about the library in general to users especially new students in the slot provided by the university program.

Inter Library Loan (ILL)
Service to obtain material (printed or online) that is unavailable in the UMP Library. The request can be made by approaching the staff at the Reference Unit or fill in an on-line form that can be found in the library portal. The format of the material available through ILL is books and journal articles. The book will be returned to the lending institutions within 1 month from the borrowing date.

Ask a Librarian
Users can make inquiries and seek advice from the Reference Librarian in all aspects of information and the library. 

Restricted Reference Collection
Thesis and Undergraduate Project Paper are considered as Restricted Reference Collection. This collection can be accessed internally at the provided space in the Library. Users must abide to the stated rules and regulations. Photocopy is allowed but subject to the terms and conditions of the Copyright Act.
