Reference Management Using Mendeley (20 August 2021)

Participants were taught the significance of referring and the value of providing reference source information in their work before the hands-on Mendeley session. Participants were also exposed to the library's reference source search methods and platforms for obtaining items such as physical books, electronic books, journal articles, theses, and other materials. In addition, participants were shown some examples of basic citation formats and writing rules. Following that, participants learned what Mendeley is, how to create an account and download Mendeley desktop, how to add and manage files, and how to enter citations and references during the sharing on the use of Mendeley.

A question and answer session was also held before the programme ended. Participants were also willing to share a screen in order to show the outcomes achieved after the description was given. SpeakerS and lecturers can see the outcomes of the students' understanding in this way. Hopefully after this session all participants will be able to effectively use reference management software to collect, store and manage bibliographic references and formatting citations and bibliographies. Some of the participant feedback after this session is that the speaker already explains every required skill to using Mendeley for SDP, learns about insert citation and overall, the training is good and achieves its objectives.
