UMP Library Benchmarking Visit to the Dar al-Hikmah International Islamic University of Malaysia Library, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Library, Tuanku Bainun Library and UPSI Digital Library

On 29th and 30th September 2022, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Library conducted benchmarking visits to several public library universities. Among the libraries visited are Dar al-Hikmah International Islamic University of Malaysia, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Library, ISTAC-IIUM, Tuanku Bainun Library and UPSI Digital Library.

The objective of this visit is to;

Increase knowledge and knowledge sharing about technology used in the library in creating a digital library that is a necessity in this era.
Giving staff exposure to material and collection management up-to-date in addition to learning storage and material management methods physical and digital.
Create a good relationship between academic and public libraries in sharing information and knowledge in terms of collection management, acquisition of physical and digital materials, archives and digital library management.
Benchmark the UMP Library for information and learn the latest technology in material management and digitization create a digital library and also become a knowledge center for university information.

This visit session was filled with activities and became an interesting exchange session for the staff. Information sharing and exchange of ongoing projects, generating new ideas that can be applied and the strengthening of relationships between academic libraries brings new insight for the staff.

At the end of this visit, the participants also exchange their experiences and knowledge related to their respective fields with their new contacts. In conclusion, the initial objectives that have been set have been successfully achieved.
