Citation Style Guides

  • Citation
Citation is a way of identifying and acknowledging others' published works that you used to support your own research. Other than facilitating researchers to locate sources of works, it also includes citations in paper and also helps avoid plagiarism.
  • In-Text Citation
A recognition that was given to individuals for their creative and intellectual works that you utilized to support your research
  • References
  • Usually come at the end of a text (essay or research report) and should contain only those works cited within the text
  • Arranged by alphabetically
  • Citation Styles
  • A citation style defines the necessary information for a citation, how the information is ordered, and what format citations should follow.
  • Generally, the citation style you use depends on your research area. Check with your instructor or supervisor if you are not sure which style you should use for your assignment. Some commonly used styles for different faculties are listed below:
  1. APA Style
  2. IEEE Style
  3. MLA Style
  4. Harvard Style
  5. Chicago Style
