Training session with Elsevier: Where to publish at UMPSA Gambang Library – January 24, 2024

The Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Library (UMPSA) in collaboration with the Postgraduate Association (PGA UMPSA) and Elsevier has held an academic training session entitled "Where to Publish?" on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Gambang Library Auditorium. This training session aims to help participants, especially postgraduate students, in choosing a journal that is appropriate for their area of study.

The training session was attended by 86 participants comprising postgraduate students and lecturers from various faculties. Dr. Benny Ang from Southeast Asia, Elsevier Science Direct has conducted this training session. The main topics that came to the attention of the participants were guides to identifying predatory journals, evaluating journals, using appropriate journal search tools according to the field of study as well as guidance on assessing the reputation of a journal.

One of the participants who was thrilled with the event was Ms Nurul Farah Anisa Binti Hairolnizam, a postgraduate student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology. She said that this session provides a lot of new information and knowledge about the publication of scientific material. "I am very happy to join this session. Many important tips related to writing and publishing are relevant to my field needs. It is hoped that the library will be able to organize further sessions like this which I am confident will motivate the participants to produce the best publications," said Nurul Farah Anisa who is also the President of UMPSA Postgraduate Association.

At the end of the session, participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss directly with Dr. Benny Ang about various aspects related to publishing writing in journals. Some interesting questions include how to avoid predatory journals, criteria for choosing journals that are suitable for the field and tips to improve the quality of writing. Every question has been answered clearly and beneficially to all participants. It is hoped that this training session can have a positive impact on all participants and help in producing quality publications.
